For parents
Hustle is open to students from age 14. Here is what that means for your child: what the team reviews, what the profile shows and how to reach us.
Hustle is in beta. Parts marked Planned come with payment, after the beta. Everything else on this page applies now.
Sign-up from age 14
Anyone aged 14 or older can sign up for Hustle. Under the Law on Personal Data Protection, 14 is the age of digital consent, so signing up needs no consent from a parent or guardian.
A date of birth at sign-up
Sign-up asks for the date of birth and lets no one under 14 through.
The same Hustle, stricter rules
A student under 18 uses Hustle like everyone else, but their services and needs go to the team first, as described below.
A parent later, for payouts (planned)
Once payment arrives, a parent or guardian will be needed only if the student has no bank account of their own.
What the team reviews
Services and needs from users under 18 don’t go public right away: the Hustle team reviews them first.
Services and needs wait for review
A service or need from a user under 18 isn’t public until the team approves it. A service is reviewed again after any change to its text or images.
A keyword filter
It checks profiles, listings, applications, messages, orders and reviews. It looks for phone numbers and other contact details meant to take a deal off Hustle, insults, sexual content, drugs, weapons, self-harm and gambling. Whatever it finds stays hidden until the team reviews it, and a held message doesn’t reach the other person.
Applications to needs
An application a student sends to a business’s need doesn’t wait for review, but the filter checks it too. Only the student, the business and the team see it.
The profile of a student under 18
A student’s profile goes public once it is complete: a name, at least one category, a bio and a city. Until then only the student and the Hustle team see it.
The full name, no school until 18
The public profile shows the full name given at sign-up. The school isn’t shown until the student turns 18, and the date of birth and email address never are.
A photo is optional
Everyone decides for themselves whether to add a photo. Photos and images are shrunk before upload, which removes the location and phone data stored in them. Certificate files are uploaded as they are and are public on the profile.
Public, including in search engines
Everything else on the profile is public. Profiles of users under 18 also appear in search engines such as Google, like everyone else’s.
Safety in conversations
The work is agreed in messages on Hustle, so every conversation and every order leaves a record.
Who can write
Anyone with a Hustle account, a business or a student, can write to anyone with a public profile, students under 18 included. Whoever writes first sends a request: up to 3 messages, text only, until the other person accepts it.
Block and report
Anyone can block anyone: the blocked person can no longer write in that conversation or start a new one. Messages and profiles can be reported to the team.
A “Hustle team” conversation
Every user has a pinned conversation with the Hustle team. Your child can ask for help there, or tell us if something is wrong.
The team can read conversations
Conversations aren’t hidden from the team: it can read them and hide a message that breaks the rules. Every time the team opens someone else’s conversation, it is recorded.
Payment and payout
No money moves through Hustle in the beta: there is no payment, no payout and no commission. If a business and the student agree on a payment between themselves, that is between the two of them, and Hustle takes no part in it.
Protected payment (planned)
Once payment arrives, the business will pay the price up front, and Hustle will hold the money until it approves the work.
Payout to a parent’s or guardian’s account (planned)
If a student under 18 has no bank account of their own, the money will be paid into the account of a parent or guardian.
Hustle will keep 10% of the price. On an order of 2,500 MKD, the freelancer will get 2,250 MKD and 250 MKD will be the commission.
Deleting the account, and contact
The account can be deleted at any time, in the profile’s settings. Deleting is immediate and complete: the account, the profile, the projects, the certificates and every file. Nothing can be restored.
The full rules are in the terms of use, and what applies to the data of students under 18 is in the privacy policy:
For anything else, write to us. The Hustle team answers parents’ questions directly.
